A harbour porpoise was washed ashore in Dunbar, Scotland, over the last weekend. The reason for its death was most likely a deep propeller wound on its midsection, but samples have been taken by the British Divers and Marine Rescue volunteers to determine this notion.
To relieve the possible public distress of seeing such a “sad sight”, the volunteers attempted to “move the porpoise as much as [they] could” and cover it from the public eye. The East Lothian Council has confirmed that the process of organising the disposal of the body from the beach was in full motion, and they are just awaiting pick up.
