Two dead porpoises washed up on Bray Beach

Only a couple days after the last porpoise stranding, another two were washed up only within days from each other on the same beach. The cases were reported to the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group who confirmed that the “damage to the carcass was made by fish and gulls rather than propeller damage.”

Porpoises do not usually travel in groups of two. Finding two animals stranding in such spatial and temporal proximity is thus very unusual. Nevertheless, the endangered species is common in the area with Bray Beach being proposed as a special area of conservation for the harbour porpoise.
