Under the funding of Scottish Natural Heritage, The Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme (Smass) launched the application, Beach Track. This free application aims to encourage the public to report marine strandings and litter across Scottish coastlines. The outcome would help build a “health map” of the Scottish coastline, which would lead to efficient local conservation action and help fill the gaps in our knowledge on marine mammals. “This, in turn, will help all of us to better protect our seas” as stated by Ellie MacLennan, of Smass.
